What is Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)?

ILR grants permanent resident status in the UK. It allows you to live, work, and study in the UK without time restrictions and can be a stepping stone to full British citizenship.

Who Can Apply for ILR?

British Citizenship Eligibility

To apply for citizenship, most applicants must:

• Hold ILR or Settled Status (under EU Settlement Scheme)
• Have lived in the UK for at least 5 years
• Have held ILR for 12 months before applying
• Pass the Life in the UK Test
• Meet English language requirements
• Demonstrate good character (no serious criminal record)
